Alan has extensive experience in running and leading mining businesses, including Chief Executive, Energy & Minerals at Rio Tinto in 2016, and as Chief Executive, Diamonds & Minerals from 2012 to 2016. Alan has held management positions in Australia, London and the United States for Rio Tinto’s Iron Ore and Energy businesses, and has run and managed operations in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and North and South America.

Alan is the Chief Executive Officer of Moxico Resources plc, an unlisted public mining company exploring, developing and operating copper mines in the Republic of Zambia, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Argentina.

Alan was a non-executive director of Rolls Royce Holdings plc, and is currently a non-executive director of Ioneer Limited, an emerging lithium-boron producer. Alan is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and has degrees in law and business.
